Last week Disney released some preview materials for a film coming out this Christmas about how the movie "Mary Poppins" got made. It is called "Saving Mr. Banks". Take a look below:

Mickey’s Compass Quest
A Limited Time Magic from June 3rd to 9th,
2013 for the show “Mickey and the
Magical Map”. There was a beautiful map created for portions of Disneyland Park
with a quest to find where some compasses were located. You earned a prize for
finding them.

“The Lone Ranger” Tonto’s Story
Saw “The Lone Ranger” the other day, which is basically told
form Tonto’s point of view and has both Tonto’s and The Lone Ranger’s back stories
included. Told in a modern western format, I liked the movie. It had a good
combination of backstory and action, though there may have been some room for
more action.
An interesting promotion for the movie was a little
Frontierland Express newspaper put on the counters of The Golden Horseshoe in
Disneyland. Pictures below.

Maps! Maps! Maps!
Maps are my favorite souvenir from nearly every place I go to. Lucky
for me the Disney theme parks have a lot of maps to go around. They have: maps
to help you get around, maps in foreign languages, maps for special occasions,
and maps that are meant to framed and hung on the wall.
I suppose I like maps so much because they are a nice way to
imagine, or to remember, a place you have had a fun time at. My favorite map of
Disneyland is probably from the 50th Anniversary, when they printed
a copy of the map from opening day on the backside of today’s map. I do have
some maps for sale from time to time on my ebay shop.

The Enchanted Tiki Room’s 50th Anniversary
In 1963 Walt Disney opened this tropical paradise. Full of
singing birds, flowers, and tiki’s made from the most advance
Audio-Animatronics ever made at that point. We’ve been lucky to be able to
chill with a pineapple dole whip and a cool theater for these past 50 years.
One of the Limited Time Magic events Disneyland did for
Annual Passholders, in June 2013, was to hand out a copy of an advertisement for The Enchanted
Tiki Room from 1963. Here are some pictures:

Disneyland’s 58th Anniversary
Disneyland’s 58th Anniversary
It was 58 years ago that Walt Disney opened his Magic
Kingdom to a large crowd in blistering heat. It might not have been as hot this
year, but it is still a place full of magic.
I spent the day at the park. There were some interesting
happenings on the 17th, Cast Members wore commemorating buttons, the main event was a special show commemorating the moment when Walt Disney gave his
dedication speech in Town Square. This year, they had an opportunity to participate in the show flash mob style. It was nice that the small shows and bands like the Laughing stock Co. and the Dapper Dans mentioned it was Disneyland's Birthday.
Stay tuned for some goodies on ebay.
