Off the Lot

Off the Lot is where I will blog about things I do away from the Disney Empire :) The theatre shows I see, will be the main feature here.

Brown and Out 3

Casa0101’s 3rd annual theater festival, Brown and Out, is a collection of 8 short plays, all about different aspects of the experience of being Brown and LGBTQ. This fantastic production, filled with lovely plays, which feel like they could happen in your family, they felt real and relatable.

The 8 plays had range from: funny to serious, younger and older, and present to future. The variety had a nice balance to it, which made for a night that almost ends too soon.

LGBTQ by Uvaldo Baltazar and Arriola Baltazar: A look at how the LGBTQ experience might be in the far off future, with how things change, and yet still stay the same.

SUNDAY BRUNCH by Rosa Maria Rodriguez: The troubles of coming out to your mother.

WHITTIER BLVD by Michael Patrick Spillers: An intense play on transitioning and grief.

LOS NOVIOS by Jaime Mayorquin:  A funny tale of boyfriends and family getting ready for a wedding.

PROM by Monica Palacios: What can happen when a girl wants to go to prom with another girl.

SAFE by Miguel Garcia: A man’s solitary look at his life.

HAPPY AND GAY by Mary Steelsmith: 2 women prepare a wedding reception for a Mrs. and Mrs. couple.

CRAZY by Natalie Camunas: The meeting of two girls.

I applaud Casa0101 for this production. Brown and Out 3 has performances until November 3rd.
